Modalities of the Naturalist Program
Naturalist Program for Children and Young People
The naturalist program for children and young people has the primary purpose of promoting learning and the development of "naturalist skills" through direct contact with nature.
In the first module, children and young people learn about the history of great naturalists, taxonomy, natural selection, principles of ecology, ecological relationships, the world of invertebrates, and the natural history of the Earth. This is reinforced with interactive learning activities and field trips.
In the second module, they learn about natural phenomena, how food chains work, what the scientific method is and how it is applied, life cycles, changes in form, adaptations, the fascinating world of vertebrates, and key species for conservation.
